What first got you hooked on your sport?
The first time I tried wheelchair racing it felt like I was flying. I had never done any kind of para sport before so when I realised I could do sport without having to adapt to my disability it was really eye opening & I knew straight away how much I loved it.
Do you have any rituals, habits, or superstitions before training or competing?
I have a few little things before I race that get me ready. An important one is on the start line I will always say “Let me race fast, fierce & fair” a reminder that there’s always a choice of how to race and how to have good sportsmanship throughout. I also have a pre-race playlist to get me absolutely hyped!
What would your teammates/friends say you’re known for outside of your sport?
Definitely being obsessed with my dog! I’m sure that I update people more about Luna that I do myself.
What’s been your most memorable (or unusual) moment in a competition?
Most memorable moment would have to be winning the 2024 Boston Marathon! Most unusual, being caught singing along to the music during London Marathon…
Have you got any nightmare cramp stories? And how did you deal with the cramp?
I’ve had a couple awful cramping moments in training! One my forearm was cramping so badly I couldn’t hold my glove, at that point it was a bit of a waiting game & trying to hydrate more!
What big goal are you working towards next?
I’m lucky to compete in the Abbot World Marathon Major Series every year so the goal is always the next marathon!! At the moment it will be working towards the Boston - London double, two marathons in 6 days and trying to finish in a good position at them both!
