What first got you hooked on your sport?

⁠I’ve been kicking a ball since I could walk. I seemed to take to it straight away, but I think my dads career certainly intensified my obsession


Do you have any rituals, habits, or superstitions before training or competing?

Yes around games, same meal the night before and 3 hrs before game each time, same song before heading out to warm up, and the same pair of shin pads my entire career. I think having the feeling of familiarity around competing helps and you tend to find what works for you with time  


What would your teammates/friends say you’re known for outside of your sport?

I have no idea what they’d say but I continued my studies longer than most other players and generally do well if we’ve ever got team quizzes so maybe something along those lines 


What’s been your most memorable (or unusual) moment in a competition?

Liverpool fans often mention to me my turn on the edge of the box at AC Milan in the CL so most likely that 


Have you got any nightmare cramp stories? And how did you deal with the cramp?

Fortunately not nightmarish in terms of the consequences but in periods where my playing time has been stop start I suffered from it at the end of games and it made competing very difficult in those final minutes where games are so often decided. It also means for me that recovering from the game takes longer


What big goal are you working towards next?

I’m hoping to have a successful campaign with West Brom in the Championship pushing for promotion
